Active day for butterflies in the yard. I guess in honor of Mom's 88
birthday.

4 Pipevine Swallowtails, 3 males ( up one in number) and one very worn
female still laying eggs, I collected 20 today. The males still try to mate
with her. I think, sheesh, enough already..lol.

One Great Spangled Fritillary apparently in love with yellow marigolds. I
have never seen one nectar so long in one spot.

Various Silver Spotted Skippers
Three Monarchs, only one which I caught to tag. He was a very strong
individual.
4 Sachem Skippers
One Tawny Skipper
2 American Ladies
Cabbage Whites (they found my 1 inch tall Kale transplants)

Released two Monarchs which I raised for someone leaving on a trip. 3 year
old Gabriella helped me tag and release one. She thought it odd we would put
a sticker on a butterfly but loved it when it remained in her hand and
crawled up her arm. She is very gentle and calm with them...a veteran
lepidopterist for 2 yrs now.
