Hey all,
Checked out Mansfield Hollow Dam and the barrens for late season species.
Target was Leonards Skipper. Was concerned as numbers of Cobweb and Dusted
were lower than last season, but Frosted Elfins were much more common. The
area was very dry and nectar was concentrated in a few spots along the
trail. The purple thistle-looking flower (knapweed?) was the best source.
Cabbage White - 2
Orange Sulphur - 1
Eastern Tailed Blue - 8+
Gray Hairstreak - 5
American Copper - 7
Pearl Crescent - 10+
Wild Indigo Duskywing - 1
Leonard's Skipper - 1 fresh male
Fairly slow despite warm weather
