[Ctleps-l] Sunday sightings

Had a couple of interesting sightings in Naugatuck Valley on Sunday, 27
species overall. Observers Rick Cech & Emily Peyton, also Peter DeGennaro at
Naugatuck Industrial Park.

 

Naugatuck Industrial Park:

15 species, but very low volumes (apart from one site)

 

Cabbage White

CORAL HAITSTREAK (5-10)

Banded Hairstreak (1)

Eastern Tailed-Blue

Great Spangled Fritillary

COMMON BUCKEYE (rare at the site, esp. this date)

Little Wood-Satyr (just 1)

Silver-spotted Skipper

Northern Cloudywing

European Skipper (commonest grass skipper)

Peck's Skipper (1)

Tawny-edged Skipper (1)

Crossline Skipper (1)

Little Glassywing (1, very fresh male)

Hobomok Skipper (1)

 

Kellogg Environmental Center:

12 species, abundant milkweed

 

3 swallowtails (Black, Eastern Tiger, Spicebush)

Cabbage White

Orange Sulphur (1)

Banded Hairstreak (2)

HICKORY HAIRSTREAK (3, including one aberrant/prob. Hickory, copy attached)

Great Spangled Fritillary

Red Admiral

MONARCH (1-2)

Silver-spotted Skipper

Northern Broken-Dash (1-2)
