Tuesday, October 20, 7:30pm
Sudler Hall, 100 Wall Street

David's Harp is a Philadelphia-based performance ensemble specializing in music from Turkey, Greece, the Balkans, Azerbaijan, North Africa and the Middle East. Led by Joseph Alpar, the group is devoted to performing the music of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewish communities from around the world with a focus on revealing cultural and religious interactions through music. With repertoire drawn from Ottoman court music, Sufi devotional songs, Rembetika and Ladino genres among others, the fluidity and and blending of diverse musical ideas between Jewish and non-Jewish worlds is demonstrated through the music of David's Harp. In the spirit of peace and friendship, David's Harp is dedicated to keeping this rich artistic heritage of musical exchange alive.
