Subject: National Greek Heritage Student Study

Greetings,

I hope you are all having a great fall semester at Yale.

I'm writing to you about the Got Greek? National Student Research Study <http://www.gotgreek.org/> . We are currently building an online archive of interviews with American college and university students of Greek heritage, and also conducting an online survey. The survey is for both American-born and foreign-born students of Greek descent.

The purpose behind the study is to better understand how young people of Greek descent connect with their heritage. We hope the interviews and survey data, once analyzed, will be equally informative and engaging resources for the community, scholars like yourself, and students.

To obtain the necessary survey data, we are turning to Hellenic student clubs and professors like you to help us with student participation. We would greatly appreciate it if you could spread the word about the survey, post the attached flyer, and send an email to any students you know with Greek heritage. We especially feel that an email coming from professors, who students naturally know and respect, raises the chances for participation.

I have attached a brief standard-form letter, which you can copy and paste into your email to students, and send along with the flyer about the survey. Of course, please feel free to modify the letter as you like and be creative about what you think will increase your students' chances of participation. To give you one idea, a professor we contacted is offering extra-credit to students who complete the survey by a given time and show proof that they have.

We understand right now is a busy time for you and your students, especially in the lead-up to the Thanksgiving break. But with a few days off, students might see the break as a time to take the survey. We would greatly appreciate your assistance and thank you in advance. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Marudas, Director of the Got Greek? National Student Research Study

About the Got Greek? National Student Survey
The Got Greek? National Student Survey <http://www.gotgreek.org/> is the first national online survey of American university students of Greek ancestry. We are surveying students on their views and opinions about their background and how it relates to everything from food and music, to family, friends and dating. Whether you are 1/16th or 100% Greek - or if your last name is more like Fey than Stephanopoulos - this study is about you. Your voice belongs in this conversation. That's why we're inviting you to participate in the Next Generation National Student Survey.
