The International Journal of Diachronic Linguistics and Linguistic
Reconstruction (IJDL,
https://reichert-verlag.de/zeitschriften/ijdl_zeitschrift) is
preparing a thematic issue on historical loan-word research, loan
etymologies, and related matters. The target languages are all members
of the Indo-European language family and their (historical) neighbours
such as Uralic, Turkic, etc. Papers dealing with theoretical and/or
methodological aspects of loan-word research (such as the role of
loan-words in establishing and dating ancient migrations, establishing
and dating phonological change, etc.) are especially welcome. Papers
addressing theoretical and/or methodological issues may also deal with
other languages and/or areals than Indo-European and its surroundings.
All papers submitted to the thematic issue will be peer-reviewed and,
if accepted, receive a doi. The contributions should be sent by 1st
October 2025 per e-mail to prof. dr. Eugen Hill (University of
Cologne, eugen.hill at uni-koeln.de).
