*Dear Colleagues,*

The University of Graz’s Department of Digital Humanities, on behalf of the
ERC-funded project “From Digital to Distant Diplomatics” (DiDip), warmly
invites submissions for a series of three interconnected sessions at
the *International
Medieval Congress 2026* in Leeds.

Our sessions will address the conference theme of *“Temporalities”* by
exploring the evolution of late medieval charters (c. 1300–1500). We are
particularly interested in contributions that examine the dissemination of
documentary conventions across *linguistic and cultural boundaries*, and
how computational methods can reveal patterns of change in multilingual
legal contexts.

We aim to bridge historical perspectives with computational methods (NLP,
Computer Vision) to explore the dynamic evolution of documentary culture
across Latin and vernacular traditions.

For a detailed overview of our sessions, please visit our full call for
papers here: *https://didip.hypotheses.org/3832
<https://didip.hypotheses.org/3832>*

We welcome papers for the following three sessions:

   -

*Session 1: The Historical Perspective* – Exploring how legal formulas
and scribal practices adapted and traveled across different chanceries and
   linguistic regions.
   -

*Session 2: The NLP Perspective* – Using computational techniques to
analyze formulaic legal terminology, trace textual transmission, and decode
diachronic language change across different languages and dialects.
   -

*Session 3: The Computer Vision Perspective* – Applying machine learning
to analyze how the visual and material formulaic aspects of charters
(scripts, layouts, seals) evolved differently across European regions and
   cultures.

*Submission Guidelines:*

   -

Please submit a *100-word abstract* and a *brief CV*.
   -

Send your submission to: *didip at uni-graz.at <didip at uni-graz.at>*
   -

   Use the subject line: *IMC2026*

The submission deadline is *September 24th, 2025.*

We look forward to your contributions.

Sincerely,
The ERC DiDip Team
University of Graz
