[Reading Group of the North American Research Network in Historical Sociolinguistics]

Join our online reading group to discuss hot-off-the-press publications in historical sociolinguistics with the authors! The inaugural session of "Reading with NARNiHS" is taking place on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at 10:00 a.m. US Central time / 5:00 p.m. CET and features Don Tuten with his very recent work on early representations of Romance vernacular in legal documents.

Reading with NARNiHS is an exciting new venue for engagement with cutting-edge work in historical sociolinguistics, accessible to researchers at all levels. Reading with NARNiHS combines aspects of "meet the author" + "authors read their works" + "author interview" + "classic reading group discussion" as we interact together with new scholarship and its authors.

Anna Havinga will be our moderator/discussant, and there will also be plenty of time for your questions. So, please come along for an enriching one-hour exchange about the most current topics in historical sociolinguistics!
