sponsored by Transitions Abroad magazine:
Transitions Abroad Narrative Travel Writing Contest
Deadline: Dec. 1, 2005
Professionals, freelancers and aspiring travel writers are invited to write
articles that describe a life-changing travel experience abroad. One of the
results of cultural immersion travel abroad is the experience of
epiphanies, which change one's perceptions of the world, of others, and of
oneself. Translate one of these moments or series of moments into a
narrative that might offer others inspiration to take the plunge overseas.
TransitionsAbroad.com will publish the top three winners' entries. Contest
Prizes: The first-place winners entry will receive $250, the second-place
winning entry $100, and the third-pace winner $75. Any other articles
selected for publication on TransitionsAbroad.com will receive a $50
payment. For more info:

Transitions Abroad Annual Student Writers Contest
Deadline: Dec. 20, 2005
Transitions Abroad hosts an annual Student Writers Contest,
<http://www.transitionsabroad.com/information/writers/student.shtml>http://www.transitionsabroad.com/information/writers/student.shtml.
All currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, students who
have graduated within the past year, and all students currently on leave
from school are eligible. The title "Transitions" is meant to suggest the
changes in perception and understanding, as well as in place, that result
from cultural immersion travel. The winners article will be published in
Transitions Abroad March/April 2006, and the winner will receive a $150
cash prize.
