Employers on Study Abroad - Part I
UCS made the rounds of the tables at the Corporate Career Fair the other
week, and asked the employers their thoughts on study abroad, and about job
applicants who studied abroad while at university. Over the next few
E-News editions, I will share with you some of the quotes ...
"It's a big plus. Lots of people prefer them." (Cornerstone Research)
"If I were to change one thing in my Yale experience, it would have been to
study abroad." (Archstone Consulting)
"We definitely pay more attention to it." (Mercer Management)
2006-07 Oxford & Cambridge Study Abroad Applications
Attention Sophomores -- now is the time to start planning for an Oxford or
Cambridge study abroad experience during the 2006-07 academic
year. Application deadlines for these two universities are much earlier
than for other study abroad programs and universities. We recommend that
you apply no later than mid-December for the full-year 2006-07 admission,
and no later than the end of January for a spring 2007 admission. Read

Universities at http://www.yale.edu/iefp/studyabroad/oxbridge.html. Links

study abroad web site.
DEADLINE: Spring Junior Term Abroad Applications
Rumours have reached my ears that some students still think they cannot
apply for spring JTA until they have had an acceptance from their chosen
study abroad program/university. This is most definitely not the case as
many of you will not hear back from your program(s) before our
deadline. Whether you have received an acceptance from a program, nor not,
you must submit your Yale Junior Term Abroad application by our internal
deadline: 4pm, Friday, October 14 (next Friday!).
International Opportunities Fair -- A Rousing Success
As always, the program reps who attended last Friday's International
Opportunities Fair pleased to see so much interest in study abroad - and
were impressed with the thoughtful questions asked by all who visited their
tables. The final attendance tally showed that 750 (!) Yale students
packed the Lanman Center during the two hour fair!
