Peking University-Yale University Joint Undergraduate Program in Beijing
There is still time to apply for the spring semester!

It's not too late to apply to study at China's flagship university in
one of the most exciting cities in the world for Yale College
credit. The Peking University-Yale University Joint Undergraduate
Program in Beijing is now accepting applications for Spring
2007. Sophomores and juniors are eligible. Although the deadline is
Monday, October 16, 2006 at noon, late applications will be accepted
on a case by case basis.

Two seminars will be taught in English by Yale faculty, Anne Dunlop
and Pierre Landry; both will be open to all students. Here are some
of the courses offered this spring (for a full listing, and course
descriptions, see
http://www.yale.edu/iefp/pku-yale/academicsfaculty.html#spring2007):
CHNS 360: "Contemporary Beijing Culture"
HSAR 118: "Monuments of Western Art"
HSAR 438: "Gold, Silk, and Stones: Early-Modern Art between East and West"
ECON 120: Introduction to Chinese Economy
PLSC 414 / EP&E 323: "Decentralization in Developing Countries"
EENG 235a and 236b: "Special Projects, Beida-Yale Joint Research
Center for Microelectronics and Nanotechnology"
MCDB 475: "Directed Research, Peking-Yale Center for Plant Molecular
Genetics and Agro-biotechnology"

Because we are eager to open this program to more students, we have
made an important change in the eligibility requirements for spring
semester 2007. We will now accept applications for this spring term
from students with no prior study of Chinese. And, we will not
require such students to take a full semester of beginning Chinese
once in Beijing. Instead, we will offer a non-credit tutorial in
survival Chinese in addition to the regular English-language course
offerings. We will still offer the second semester of beginning
Chinese for those students who have taken the first semester at Yale.

Gearen in the Office of International Education and Fellowship
Programs at <cameron.gearen at yale.edu>.
