Africa Week @ Yale (Nov. 1-10)
The Yale African Students Association (YASA) will be sponsoring 
Africa Week at Yale from Nov. 1-10.  Events will include speakers, 
movie screenings, music, poetry readings, the launch of the African 
Literature Book Club, and panel presentations.  Stayed tuned to Study

John Thouron Prize for Summer Study @ Pembroke College, Cambridge University

Annual French Department Info Meeting -- Majors and Study Abroad
Learn about the French major, and about study abroad options in the 
Francophone world (including the French department's own summer study 
abroad programs, and study abroad on non-Yale programs for a semester or year)

Planning for Summer -- Funding Options & Study Abroad
Do you want to study abroad next summer? Conduct independent research 
in the U.S. or abroad? Volunteer for a non-profit? Take a low or 
unpaid internship? Then come to this meeting to find out what your 
options are for study and funding. It's not too early to start planning!

Summer Language Study in India
The American Institute of Indian Studies welcomes applications for 
its summer 2008 language programs. Programs to be offered include:
         Hindi (Jaipur)
         Bengali (Kolkata)
         Punjabi (Chandigarh)
         Tamil (Madurai)
         Marathi (Pune)
         Urdu (Lucknow)
         Telugu (Vizag)
         Malayalam (Thiruvananthapuram)
         Sanskrit (Pune)
         Pali/Prakrit (Pune)

AIIS will offer other Indian languages upon request.

Pre-requisites for language study:  For regular summer Hindi and 
Sanskrit, we require the equivalent of two years of prior study; for 
summer Bengali and Tamil and for second-year Hindi we require the 
equivalent of one year of prior study. For summer Urdu, we require 
the equivalent of one year of either Hindi or Urdu. We can offer 
courses at all levels, including beginning, in other Indian languages 
for the summer.

Funding opportunities:  Summer students should apply for FLAS 
(graduate students) if available for funding to cover the costs of 
the program. Funding for Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi and Urdu may be 
available through the U.S. State Department's CLS program (see 
www.caorc.org). Academic year students are eligible to apply for an 
AIIS fellowship which would cover all expenses for the program. The 
application postmark deadline is January 31, 2008.
