Thinking about study abroad ...
    * What are you goals for study abroad? Do you want direct
immersion in a university abroad? Do you want a chance to conduct
independent research? Do you want to work on your language
skills? Are you looking for another perspective to your major? Do
you want a break from your major to take courses that just don't fit
into your schedule here at Yale?
    * Think about location: Where do you want to go? Have you
always dreamed of visiting a particular country or region? Big city
or small university town? If you have no idea where you want to go,
but know you want to go somewhere, let us help you explore your options!
    * Semester or Year? Do you want a full academic year experience
in another country? Or do you want to go for one semester? There
are great opportunities for both short and long term study abroad.
    * Take a look at the study abroad web site
http://www.yale.edu/iefp/studyabroad/index.html. Read through the
FAQs, take a look at the Gallery, and review the Regions section --
and don't forget to check out the calendar for fall information
meetings and events (new ones will be added throughout the semester,
so check back often).
    * Talk to a peer advisor: Watch for the updated listing of peer
advisors (it should be ready sometime this week), and contact
returned study abroad students to learn about their experiences.
    * Attend the Freshman/Sophomore Study Abroad & Fellowship
Information Meeting: Tuesday, September 18 @ 6pm in LC 101
    * Attend the International Opportunities Fair: Friday, September
28, 1-3pm, Payne Whitney Gym.
And last, but certainly not least ...
    * Schedule an appointment with a study abroad advisor: call Pam
at 432-8684.

Reminder to those visiting IEFP at 55 Whitney Avenue
To schedule an appointment with a study abroad advisor, please call
432-8684. We cannot schedule study abroad appointments via email.

When visiting IEFP, you will need your Yale ID to get up to office at
55 Whitney Avenue (across from Subway and Dunkin' Donuts). Just
swipe your card in the reader by the building's reception desk, and
proceed to the bank of elevators for your trip to the third floor.

Do you have a passport?
If you wish to study abroad in the spring semester or next summer and
do not yet have a passport, you should apply for one
immediately. The U.S. passport agency is very behind in the
processing of passport applications, so paying a bit extra for
expedited service (especially if you are going abroad in the spring!)
is strongly advised. Passport application information can be
accessed on the State Department web site at
http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.
