Going abroad? Make sure you're ready!
All students planning to travel abroad during the upcoming summer or
the 2008-2009 Academic Year are expected to attend a Pre-Departure
Orientation sponsored by the Yale College Center for International Experience.
Orientation sessions will take place during the week of April 14 -
18, with a different region of the world represented each
afternoon. Everyone is welcome attend: whether you are traveling
independently or on a study abroad program, with an internship or
fellowship. All Yale undergraduates (including graduating seniors)
who are traveling overseas are invited.
Each session will cover vital information about preparing to go
abroad, including advice on handling visas, health and safety,
immunizations, culture shock, and academic requirements or credits.
Faculty and international students will discuss cultural differences,
and other students who have traveled to these countries will be
available to answer questions and speak about their own experiences.
You'll also have the opportunity to connect with other Yalies going
to the same destination you are and to make contacts for your time there.
The dates for the orientation sessions are:
Monday, April 14: Asia
Tuesday, April 15: Europe
Wednesday, April 16: Africa
Thursday, April 17: Americas
Friday, April 18: Middle East/North Africa
All are from 4:00 - 5:30 PM in SSS 114.
