ISA Reminder -- The Process (for non-Yale study abroad programs)
There are three parts of the application process for IEFP-designated
study abroad programs:
* Apply to one of the
<http://www.yale.edu/isa/programs_iefp.html#programs>IEFP-designated
study abroad programs
* Register to receive ISA-SIC Plus funds using the
<http://www.yale.edu/isa/IEFP_Registration2008.pdf>IEFP ISA
registration form. Submit the completed form to IEFP no later than
April 15, 2008.
* When you have been accepted to your study abroad program,
contact Pam Warner in IEFP to set up a time to bring in a copy of the
letter and sign the ISA agreement (call 432-8684; email
<mailto:pamela.warner at yale.edu>pamela.warner at yale.edu). This final
step is necessary in order for your award check to be processed.
Please note that many of the non-Yale study programs have deadlines
that will be coming up in the next month or so, and some programs are
known to close before stated deadlines, so don't wait until the last
minute to apply. Information is available at
http://www.yale.edu/isa/programs_iefp.html
Do You Have a Passport?
If you don't have a passport (or your passport needs to be renewed)
and plan on traveling abroad this summer, or for the fall semester,
you should apply soon. According to the U.S. State Department
passport services web site, "At this time, we are processing routine
applications within four to six weeks of receipt. We are processing
requests for expedited service within three weeks." However, given
the lengthy delays leading up to last summer's travel season, we
strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible. See the State
department web site for a listing of passport acceptance facilities
and other information about the application process
http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.
