It's a busy week here in the Center for International Experience and elsewhere on campus.

Here is a reminder about all the meetings and study breaks being held this week.

Today (Monday)



Info Meeting: John Thouron Prize for Summer Study at Pembroke College, Cambridge University

When:        Monday, November 10 @ 4pm
Where:       Room 369, 55 Whitney Ave.

Panelists: Michael Losak '09, biomedical engineering major; David Hamstra '10, history major; Sydney Levine '09, cognitive science major



Want to study abroad at Cambridge University this summer?  Not sure how you can afford to do so?  Then come to the Thouron Prize info meeting this afternoon.   This prize offers Yale students a chance to study courses offered by the Pembroke-King's Summer Programme at Cambridge, in addition to creating their own supervision.  While all majors are encouraged to apply, the supervision portion of the Thouron program is perfect for science students who want to do interesting research related to their majors, in addition to take regular courses in the social sciences and humanities.

Trumbull College International Study Break
When:    Monday, November 10 @ 9pm
Where:  Trumbull Common Room
Talk to fellow Trumbull students about their experiences abroad.  Thai food will be served!  Your Trumbull Peer Coordinator is Lauren Frohlich.


Tuesday (11/11)
Berkeley College International Study Break
When:   Tuesday, November 11 @ 9pm
Where:  BK Mendenhall Room (Game Room) in North Court
Talk to fellow Berkeley students about their experiences abroad.  Thai food will be served!  Your Berkeley Peer Coordinator is Stephanie Soderborg.


Wednesday (11/12)
Morse College International Study Break
When:   Wednesday, November 12 @ 8 or 9pm (check back next week for exact time!)
Where:  Morse Common Room

The Morse College panel discussion will introduce our new Residential Peer Advising Network Program, and give you the opportunity to hear tales of adventure from around the world.  So, if you have any questions about how to get from New Haven to the rest of the world, ask them here.  Pizza will be served!  Your Morse Peer Coordinator is Tochi Onyebuchi.


Thursday (11/13)

Applying to Study Abroad @ Oxford
When:   Thursday, November 13 @ 4pm
Where:  55 Whitney Ave., Room 309
Dr. Elizabeth Dutton from Worcester College, Oxford University and Carolyn Watson from IFSA Butler will talk about applying to, and studying at, Oxford University for the two spring terms or the full academic year.  Worcester College is one of the favorite colleges of Yale students who study at Oxford.  Don't miss out on the chance to hear all about studying abroad Oxford-style!


Have you spent time in an African country on vacation, doing study abroad, research, or service work?  Do you want to?

Are you interested in connecting with people who share your interest in Africa and African issues?

Africa-Bound: Yalies in Africa - Study Break

When:   Thursday, November 13 @ 9pm

Where:  Afro-American Cultural Center, Gameroom



The Action in Africa study break is an event that aims to bring together groups and individuals interested and involved in African issues. People can share their experiences, and people interested in a particular region or kind of work can get information from others. The idea is to get people interested in similar issues connected, and to share knowledge about working in Africa, in particular countries or on particular issues.
