I don't have the references for these yet (although if anyone has them
handy, it will save me the time to track them down...that's the problem
with tachiyomi). 

In the latest Film Quarterly, Keiko MacDonald reviews KineJapan's Darrell
Davis' _Picturing Japaneseness_. It is a positive review, complementing its
major thrust---nitpicking on a few minor details (the typical structure of
a book review, and such a waste of space that could have been devoted to
more substantial issues). 

The new Sight and Sound has a piece on Takeshi. Didn't have time to read
it, yet.
