Here are the fields available in the database. At the moment, most
information is lumped in three of the fields. This will have to be split up
in the mop up process.
Title : [This is for titles of both books and articles
and edited book chapters; question: shall we put
the titles of articles in quotation marks?]
Author : [This is only for authors; editors of books/catalogs are
included in "Imprint."]
Journal : [This also includes catalog titles and book titles for
article entries.]
Key Words : [We will build a comprehensive list of keywords that
users can browse before doing a search, just to make
sure that any keyword search produces results.]
Annotation : [These can be of any length, any language.]
Reviewer : [of the annotation]
Language : [of the article/book, so that people can limit their
searches to languages they know]
Imprint : [City: Publisher, Date, page numbers]
Date : [this field is meant for date of publication,
so that people can look at what was being
published at a given time in the history of criticism.]
Subject : [To be honest, I don't remember what this one was meant
for. Does anyone else?]
(Enter one subject heading for each row.)
-----For searches, the database searches all fields. Is it possible to
limit the search to one field, for example, key words or date? Do we need
this?
-----Are there fields we have missed?
Questions for Koyo++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Since no one can get into the edit function of the database yet, this is
really a question for Koyo:
---When you arrive in the editing section of the database, you are greeted
with a floating window for "Subject headings". What is this for?
---When I try to add an entry as "su" I am told that I should not add
anything. I suppose this is temporary?
-----The subject heading field is a large box. It would be nice if the
annotations field was this large, since these entries will tend to be
paragraphs long. Is this possible?
