Dear Jim,

The reason, as far as I can see is fairly simple. Daiei wanted a lot of money
upfront for the film and no distributor thought they could make it back. They
did come down a lot for us in terms of the guarantee but still nothing we or
a small company could afford. Another fact is that although we like the film,
we couldn't imagine getting a lot of critics on our side -- many of them we
knew didn't like it.
