My two cents.  Concentration camp is the proper term for what is called
internment camp in the US.  It was invented, I believe, by the British
to round up and concentrate the civilian population and remove them as
an economic base for the military forces of the enemy during the Boer
War.  It does not mean "extermination camp" or "death camp."  These
camps existed side by side in Germany and are confused by Americans.  That
does not mean that people were not mistreated or did not die by disease
and other means in S.A.  or Germany.
It would be a surprise to most Americans to see how many times this nation
has been cited by international bodies for crimes against humanity.
