Japanese Film Posters

I wish to learn about the production and collection of
Japanese film posters including those available in countries
other than Japan.  For example, do foreign film archives
collect Japanese film posters, even those produced in their
own countries (not the original Japanese ones)? How about libraries
and art galleries?  Are they available from specialty shops?
In Japan, when a major film is released, how many different
posters the film company designs and produces?  Are they the 
same throughout Japan (are there regional ones so to speak)?

I have two Japanese volumes which are reproductions of film 
posters, and from some booksellers' catalogues on film 
literature, one has some idea how much some rare film posters
are worth today?  I have collected in the past 12 years about
50 posters.  I remember coming across a small poster of
<Rashomon> with one corner torn away costing 8,000 yens in the
mid 1980s.
