>From Reuters, preliminary info on the Toronto festival this coming
September:

> In addition, Handling unveiled the 10 features and one short that have so far been chosen for New Beat
> of Japan, this year's National Cinema program. It opens with "After Life," from Hirokazu Kore-Eda
> ("Maborosi"), a film about how the recently deceased create their own personal heaven from a single
> memory of their choice.
>
> "Kichiku," from young director Kazuyoshi Kumakiri, a revenge film set in Japan during the student
> revolts of the 1970s, will also be featured, as will "Battles Without Honor and Humanity" from Kinji
> Jukasaku's yakuza series; "Bullet Ballet," a gang warfare film from Shinya Tsukamoto ("Tokyo Fist");
> "Ping Pong Host Springs," from Glen Yamakawa and the team that created "Shall We Dance?"; and
> Tetsuya Nakashima's "Beautiful Sunday, Happy Go Lucky."
>
> Other films include Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "The Cure," Sabu's "Unlucky Monkey," Satoshi Isaka's
> "Detective Riko," and from Keiji Ichikawa and Ken Arima, the short film "Muscle Influenza."

Any opinions on these choices? I believe the list has mentioned some of
these previously.

thanks in advance
