We had a discussion on this list about some of the above films around
this time last year, I think. Perhaps Aaron Gerow could assist you with
retrieving those posts from the Kine Japan archive. Since you liked
_Like Grains of Sand_, I would also recommmend to you Hashiguchi
Ryosuke's earlier film _A Touch of Fever_. A personal favorite of mine
from the above list is _I Like You, I Like You Very Much_. An
interesting documentary you might want to look out for is _Rasen no
Sobyo_ (Rough Sketch of a Spiral), 1991, directed by Kojima Yasufumi.
