         UNDERSTANDING CHINA AND JAPAN THROUGH THE ARTS

This two-day conference is intended for secondary, two and four-
year college teachers from all disciplines interested in
introducing or improving Asian content in the classroom.
Internationally acclaimed Asian specialists will provide insight
into the cultures of China and Japan through presentations on
selected topics, including Buddhism, painting, ceramics, gardens,
and film.  Through extensive use of slides and video clips,
experts will offer specific examples to illustrate their topics.
The first day, the conference will focus on the arts of China.
The second day we will focus on the arts of Japan.
