7th of July, sunny day

This youth film stars the multi-talented Mitsuki Arisa (b.1976)
and the well known young actor Hagiwara Masato (b.1971) and is
the debut film of a TV director (b.1955) whose name I cannot
read. The story goes something like this:

Hagiwara, a office worker in a car company, met the young and
pretty Arisa by chance on a fishing trip. Arisa was lonely
and gave him her phone no. When Hagiwara returned to the city,
giant posters of Arisa were mounted up almost everywhere. She
is actually a big singer and was closely guarded by her
manager.

Hagiwara dated Arisa reluctantly and a romance blossomed. Though
born on 7 July, Arisa had never watched the Milky Way. So Hagiwara
invited Arisa and several friends to camping on 7 July and all had
a really good time. Their friendship, however, was cut short that
Christmas because of some schematic trick of Hagiwara's boss and
the interference of Arisa's manager.

Six months elapsed, and it was 7 July again. Arisa made a heart-
breaking confession on TV while Hagiwara was working late (?).
He heard the message, finally knew what she felt, and rushed to
meet her after overcoming many obstacles on the way.

This picture looks more like a TV drama than a feature film.
Mitsuki Arisa's former film is <Supergirl Reiko> (1991), and
Hagiwara appears in quite a number of films in the 1990s. It
is enjoyable but has nothing special except star quality.

2 &1/2 * It is well received in Hong Kong by the young audience.
