Although I live in San Franciso, I've found two conduits for Japanese 
movie posters that might be helpful to you.  Video shops, both domestic 
and overseas, routinely get posters that are near duplicates of 
theatrical pressings.  Also, a Japanese source has informed me that 
their theatrical posters are typically tossed away with abandon by many 
cinemas, or even kept in piles in back rooms!  Cosying up to theater 
managers may work to your advantage.

I'm afraid I can't help you with vintage posters; the lack of a major 
collectors' market implies that interest in them is fairly cultish.  
Which is too bad.
