There has been published a dissertation by Marianne Lewinsky at the Z?rich
University last year, ISBN 3-905311-60-7, but written in german.
Unfortunately I have not seen the film just red the book and I really can
recomend it. The film was produced 1926(Kinugasa productions. Kinugasa
discovered the film again in 1971 maybe in his garret or maybe in his green
house (Tarrat, Margaret: A Page of Madness. Films and Filming XIX, 12,
September 1973) and according to Mrs. Lewinsky cut it again, shortened the
film. I can?t tell you much about the film copies just what I have red:
there must be a copy at the Iwanami Hall, at the Film Center Tokyo and at
the british NFTVA, these were the 35 mm copies, the 16 mm copies should be
at the Prefectural Museum of Kyoto, the Film Center Tokyo, and at the
Cin?math?que Suisse.
