Late news

[Ono Seiko and Aaron Gerow]

Been quite busy lately, so some news items have gotten delayed:

1) For those of you abroad dying to know how the formerly Taiyo Shochiku 
Robins (currently Yokohama Bay Stars) did in the Japan series, well, they 
beat the Lions four games to two.  Certainly reason to celebrate and to 
shop in Yokohama (with all the championship sales).

2) It was announced on Monday that Yomota Inuhiko's most recent book, 
_Eigashi e no shotai_, was one of the recipients of the prestigious 
Suntory Academic Research prize.  The book is basically a reconsideration 
of film historiography, using examples from both Japanese and world 
cinema. 

I believe this is the first time a film studies book as ever one such a 
prize before in Japan.  This perhaps bodes well for the future of film 
studies here.  For those interested in the book, here's the publication 
information in English and Japanese:
