[Sayoko Ono Smith]

Hi, my name is Sayoko Smith.  I am a film major student at University of
Michigan.  Even though my last name is "smith,"  I was born and raised
in Japan. Smith is my husnband's namen. Anyway, I'd like to apologize
first because I will be making lots of grammer and spelling mistakes that 
will make you hard to read my message. I've been reading people's
messages for about ten days. I decided to say hi to everyone today so my
professor will know that I am doing class work. 

It is nice to know that there are many people love Japanese film.
Unfortunately I don't know much about Kurosawa Akira since he was hardly
ever making movies when I was growing up. I knew who he was but only
movie that I saw at a theater by him was RAN, and I didn't understand very
much.  So I am looking forward to learn about him and other directors and
Japanese film as a whole. 

By the way, someone was asking about Peter who played the fool in RAN if
that person was he or she.  Peter is he. He was a singer maybe still is,
and I remember seeing him on TV when I was small.  

Finally, I'd like to put some names of Japanese film that I like.
Suna no Utsuwa, any film by Yamada Yoji, A Un, Kataku no Hito, Izakaya
Choji, Beijin Water Melon.  Oh, I like Kurosawa's Rapsody in August.
