The papers mentioned that film director Omori Kazuki, a veteran of the
1970s 8mm film scene who later went on to make such films
_Hipokuratesu-tachi_ and the recent (Japanese) Godzilla films, was
appointed professor in the Media Information Culture Department of the
Information Engineering Faculty of Osaka Electrical Communications
University (these are all my unverified translations). He'll be teaching
such classes as Information Culture Theory, Screenwriting Technique, and
Image Theory.
I wonder if this is a kind of a trend. With documentary director Hara
Kazuo now teaching at Waseda (on a three-year appointment, if I remember
correctly), and quite a few directors teaching part-time at various
universities, it seems a lot of directors are putting one foot into the
education world. Quite a few have also been involved in lecture series
and film seminars. Perhaps there are some chenges occuring in the realm
of film education?
