They get the reading of Suwa Nobuhiro's name wrong!
Personally, I think you do need to get all the versions of the
dictionaries if you want something fairly complete. The 1988 director's
dictionary, for instance, dropped a lot of the early film directors
included in the early 1970s edition, but added experimental filmmakers as
well as short analytical essays for living filmmakers (why they split the
living and the dead, I don't know). The new edition adds a lot more
filmmakers, but drops the analytical essays. In some cases, no new essay
has been written from the 1988 edition.
