"Official" Korean Remakes of Japanese Films

While Korea is slowly opening up again to Japanese film there does seem a 
trend for OFFICIAL remakes: "Lost Paradise" (Shitsurakuen) last year and "My 
Secret Cache" (Himitsu no Hanazono) this year with "Ring" in the works.  I 
heard that the first of these was pretty awful - one of the reasons I'm not 
doing a Shim Hye-Jin retrospective this year -but any thoughts on the trend? 
  Are the same companies making these films also buying local distribution 
rights to the Japanese originals?
