Anime (E+J)

The most comprehensive history of animation (which, one could argue,
should be distinguished from one of its genres "anime") in Japan up until
the 1970s is Yamaguchi Katsunori and Watanabe Yasushi's _Nihon animeshon
eigashi_ (Osaka: Yubunsha, 1977). The work was edited by our friends at
Planet (Yasui-san, et al). The 358 page book not only devotes
considerable space to pre-war and pre-Toei animation, as well as non-cel
forms such as puppet animation, it includes the most comprehensive
filmography of Japanese animated films I know (they also published a
supplement to the filmography ten years later). An indispensible work.

The reference in Japanese is:

????????????????????????????1977?
