looking for Miyamoto Musashi film

If the actor's name is Kitaooji Kinya then your friend may have been 
watching a television drama. Kitaooji has been in three; one for NTV in 
1965, one for TV Tokyo in 1990, and one for Asahi in 1995. The first 
two had the title _Miyamoto Musashi_ , and the third was called 
_Iemitsu Bousatsu_ .

The odds of finding these on video should be fair (at least for the  
latter two); the chances of finding them with subtitles would be 
virtually nonexistent (unless they were shown overseas subtitled, and 
you can find someone who taped the broadcast).
