I'm looking for somewhere on the internet that I can find regular reviews
and news on Japanese movies, in English (I can read Japanese but my work
computer doesn't have a Japanese character set). The KineJapan site is
great but doesn't seem to have been updated for a while. Suggestions would
be greatly appreciated.
Together with four other writers -- Bill Marsh, Mark Schreiber, Phil Brasor
and Steve McClure -- I plan to launch Tokyo Ramen, a Japanese pop culture
e-zine that will feature my Japanese film reviews from The Japan Times. We
should be ready to go on-line shortly -- I'll keep you posted.
Also, after several delays, Weatherhill is finally going to publish my book
on Japanese films in the nineties this October. The book, tentatively
titled Contemporary Japanese Cinema, will feature essays, interviews and
more than 400 full-length reviews, from 1989 to 1999.
