HI, my name is Mia and I'm new to this mailing list. I used to live in NJ
for four years, it's been a while though, and I'm now settled down in
Kawasaki. So forgive my poor English.
Anyway I've been studying movie translation (English to Japanese), a caption
whatever it's called for a year. I read some scripts of American movies and
change every word into Japanese within the limit of the number of those
letters permitted to use. There are a lot of rules in a movie translation.
So I love movies and I usually watch foreign movies, but I thought this
mailing list would help my studying as I sometimes get lost with what's
exactly meant in those English scripts.
By the way, about how many people are on this list and how many post will I
get daily?

Yes. "Nagisa no shindobaddo" was the song of the Pink Ladies.
Southern All Stars made a song called "Katte ni shindobaddo" and it was
their debut song. There was a song titled "Katte ni shiyagare" (sung by
Kenji Sawada) which was also the Japanese title of the French movie, "A bout
de souffle" (or "Breathless" for the English title) by Godard, its lyrics
had nothing to do with the movie though, and both "Nagisa no shindobaddo"
and "Katte ni shiyagare" were hit at the same time, I guess. Then SAS mixed
them up for their song title, but it still didn't make any sense at all.
I don't know what shindobaddo means either, I guess it is kind of made up
word for good looking beach boys or something. I don't think any Japanese
use the word anyway.
