Introduction

[Bill Haw]

Hello out there...

My name is Bill Haw, and I am a new subscriber to the list.  I live in San
Francisco, and am working with a small translation/consulting company called
Lexicon.  I have worked on and off as a translator and businessperson for
about 8 years, and while the majority of the work has been the usual
high-tech, machinery, business, etc., I am most interested in translating
materials for which a little more creativity is required.  I have translated
a number of stories for the author Maruyama Kenji, on whom I did my thesis,
as well as several other Japanese authors.  I have been interested in
Japanese film since the early 90's, and have tried my best to keep up with
newer films as well as slowly working through the classics.  I have recently
decided to look into the possibility of translating subtitles for some of
the interesting films that are coming out of Japan these days, and would
greatly appreciate any pointers in the right direction.

I am looking forward to being a member of the list and, if possible, further
rounding out my knowledge of Japanese film.
