This is outstanding. However, as a British Japanese cinema fan living in the
Netherlands, I'm wondering if, as is the case for most foreign language
films, these films will only be subtitled in Dutch or will we get English
subtitles as well. Until I learn Dutch, foreign language films in the
cinemas here remain a closed option for me.

By the way, if any of you have not made plans for the end of January
yet,
the Rotterdam Film Festival will definitely be the place to be for
Japanese
cinema fans. Apart from the regular selection of new Japanese
movies, next
year's program also brings you an alternative overview of Japanese
cinema
under the title of 'No Cherry Blossom', consisting of some sixty
titles
ranging from yakuza and science-fiction to manga and experimental
films. It
probably won't be long before you can find the preliminary program
on their
homepage (www.iffrotterdam.nl). There could be worse ways to start
the new
milennium.
