Dear Mod Naguib Razak,
In 1990 the Int. Rotterdam Film Festival, then under director Marco Muller,
held a retrospective titled 'Japanese Kings of the B's' featuring Kawashima
Yuzo and Mori Issei. In the same year Suzuki Seijun was also honoured with
an extensive programme.
Just like you I became very fond of Shitoyakana Kemono. The festival
published the following book on the two directors (a seperate book on Suzuki
Seijun was mentioned ealrier in this thread):
'Kawashima Yuzo & Mori Issei - Japanese Kings of the B's'
January 1991
Publ.: Stichting Film Festival Rotterdam / Uniepers Abcoude
ISBN: 90 6825 089 2
The publication is bilingual (Dutch and English) and has contributions on
Kawashima by Imamura Shohei (who was his assistant dirctor at Nikkatsu), one
original and one from 'Sayonara dake ga jinsei da', a commemorative
publication dating fron 1969, and an original contribution by the critic
Ueno Koshi.
You can check with the festival (catalogue at iffrotterdam.nl, address to Erwin
Houtenbrink) or with the Dutch Film Museum (monica at nfm.nl, address to Monica
Eckelkamp) for remaining stock, if any.
