Aaron puts the problems with _Annyong Kimchi_ very eloquently. No one has
given Matsue the tools to think through his topic thoroughly, and I agree
with Aaron that his honest tone and humble sense of humor probably makes his
use of the Hinomaru and somewhat simple treatment of identity, race, and
nationhood palatable. I want to tell Matsue that he's made a good film, but
not a great one. He won't be able to make a great one until he gets over his
"allergy" to politics, and he'll probably be in trouble the minute his
attention strays from his own story to other topics.
