Takakura Ken

    I was watching the NHK evening news this morning, and saw that
Takakura Ken had won Best Actor at the Montreal International Film
Festival.  I saw posters this summer for the film he appeared in,
"Poppo-ya," which, according to the news, is based on a Naoki
Award-winning work.  The news item also mentioned that this is the first
time a Japanese male has won best actor, but that Tanaka Yuko won best
actress in 1983.
