Janet,

I bought a VHS copy of Kamei's "Nihon no higeki" at Sanseido in Kanda in
early 1999. The jacket gives "Suncrown" (in English) as the reissuing
company and there is a number which I assume is an order number:
CRVE-5034. In smaller print and on the back of the jacket, there is what
I assume is the official Japanese company name for Suncrown: "Nihon
kuraun kabushiki kaisha," with 'kuraun' in katakana. The jacket also
labels the film as No. 14 in a "Reissued Edition Series"(Fukkokuhan
shiriizu) called "Senki eiga" (senki as in war record). ( I'd give the
kanji except my computer is being obstinant about incorporating KanjiKit
into email). I'm not sure but one notation (95-6-5) might mean it was
reissued as a video in 1995. The cost was 5000 yen and that probably
hasn't changed. On the back of the jacket, the copyright is listed for
"Kabushiki kaisha nihon eiga shinsha" (shinsha as in new company). You
might be able to get one of the Kinokuniya branches in the States to
order it for you.
