Introduction

[C.G. Rider]

Hello;
My name is Guinness Rider, and I have just joined the
club, so to speak. It seems like an interesting
resource and discussion area. Looking forward to
gleaning different opinions about Japanese film in
particular, and hope the writing isn't overly cryptic
and hyper-academic! My interests are several, probably
nothing new to familiar users of the site: Kurosawa,
Ozu, Ichikawa, Takeshi Kitano; some particular actors,
including, oddly enough, Kaneshiro and Kimura Takuya,
who have shown surprising abitlity in recent dramas
(along with plenty of ham); also curious about the
writings of Sato Tadao, often quoted but difficult to
find in English translation. My main interest is
independant cinema. I am an indie filmmaker (just
finished an adaptation of Mishima Yukio's '3 Million
Yen', now in post), and am very interested in the
indie scene in and around Tokyo in particular. Anyhow,
