Also in Kyoto, the Kyoto Bunka Hakubutsukan (on Sanjo-dori, just east of
Karasuma) has regular showings of more or less old movies, usually in themed
series, that are free with the usual price of admission to the museum
(\500). Listings are in Pia or other info-zines. I see Japan Foundation
listings in the Japan Times, but not in Pia. In general, Pia is my favorite
source--it also has listings for other "off-theater" screenings, which are
sometimes old Japanese movies and often cheap.

Hi everybody.
As I mentioned earlier in my self introduction I am currently doing an
exchange program in Osaka. As I am on a tight budget and schedule, I find it
hard to put aside the effort and money it takes to go to see Japanese
movies, old and new. I know that the Japan Foundation in Kyoto regularly
shows old japanese movies (even w. subtitles). During my last trip to Japan
('97) I used this opportunity, but I havent been able to find any
information on any screenings like these in Osaka. Does anybody have
information on low budget (or prefereably - no budget) opportunities to see
old and newer japanese movies? Any suggestion is welcome.
Regards
Tor Bechmann Sorensen
