robo no ishi, etc.

1)So I can assume that no one has anything interesting to say about Robo no
Ishi (Nikkatsu 1938)? I do recommend it to anyone looking for
underappreciated movies to write about!

2) Very sorry for the panicked notice about the virus. I opened an
attachment from a colleague in Japan Black Studies Ass'n and got infected.
It was completely plausible for him to have been sending one. I had only
written to a few places, passing it along, but one of them was Kinejapan.
Apparently the firewall stopped it? The same virus appeared yesterday with
mail from the Japan Ass'n for the Study of Popular Music, so it's going the
rounds. I promise I will never knowingly send an attachment to KineJapan.

3) Marginally off topic, but does anyone have good recommendations for
essays, etc. about US anti-Japan filmed propaganda ("documentary" or
fictional)? I'm preparing a project on anti-Japanese US pop music of the war
era and it could easily expand into a broader "culture of propaganda" short
book, or something (with attached CD!!) I know Dower pretty well and am
looking for more specialized writing.

Sorry once again, and thanks in advance,
