For those in San Francisco/Bay Area:
M/OTHER will be shown in the San Francisco International Asian American Film
Festival. The screening dates are 1) Friday, March 10 at 8:30pm at the new
Pacific Film Archive theater in Berkeley; and 2) Sunday, March 12 at 7:30pm
at the AMC Kabuki 8 Theatres in Japantown, San Francisco. Festival catalogs
are available at both venues. Ticket information is contained in the
catalog.
The only other Japanese film in this year's festival is TEL-CLUB (Natsu ni
Umareru), a pseudo-documentary by Murakami Kenji. The screening dates are
1) Saturday, March 11 at 12:30pm; and 2) Monday, March 13 at 9:00pm, both at
the AMC Kabuki.
Meanwhile, this year's program contains a good balance of feature films from
Asia (2 from Korea, 2 from Taiwan, 2 from India, 2 from Hong Kong, 2 from
the Philippines, 1 from China, and 1 from Thailand) in addition to a strong
list of Asian-American features, documentaries, and shorts. Visit the
festival website at http://www.naatanet.org/festival/2000/index.html.
I'm the print traffic coordinator for SFIAAFF, so I'll be hanging around the
Kabuki for the duration of the festival. If any KineJapan members would
like to chat about M/Other or any other film in the festival, or have
questions regarding SFIAAFF, please drop me an email. Perhaps we could meet
at the festival...
