Japanese War Footage from WWII

If this is the same one, this was a case that was covered by the
Washington Bureau of the Mainichi Shimbun when I worked there in 1997-8,
so there should be one or two archived articles on it. A Japanese
researcher (I'm afraid I don't remember her name) living in Virginia sued
the National Archives over the prints; apparently, they had been reviewed
by someone who understood only marginal Japanese, who had determined that
they were unimportant and could be disposed of. I'm also not sure who won
the case, although I believe it was heard in a Washington District court.
The reporter who covered the case probably would have been either Ito
Yoshiaki (I think this is it - he's back in Japan) or Kishimoto Masato.
If you contact the Washington Bureau of Mainichi Shimbun they might be
able to give you more information.
