At the risk of flogging a dead horse...
Did you answer my main question, Aaron? What exactly do you think we should
consider that Ri Ko Ran could conceivably be culpable of or responsible for?
What did she do wrong?
I know that respnsibility is an issue, thank you, but how does it apply
here?
One of my favorite musicians of all time, Cootie Williams, recorded a song
in 1944 with his group, The Rugcutters, called "Do Some War Work, Baby" (I
have played this song for some kinejapan members). The lyrics, by Williams,
say that it's work or fight, so don't fool around and do something for the
war effort. What, then, would be HIS culpability or responsibility? And is
that situation (and product) different in nature from a war era film with Ri
Ko Ran?
I have a problem with the hindsight view that patriotism in wartime (in a
losing war, anyway) is somehow bad.
