Riccardo,

>I'd like to write a thesis about Yoshikawa Eiji's book "Musashi" and
>Inagaki Hiroshi's film "Miyamoto Musashi" but even if I have the "Samurai
>Trilogy", in which the first video is the re-make of this film, it's rather
>impossible to find a copy of the old release (I don't remember the year but
>is approximately 1960).

Inagaki's first try at the Yoshikawa Musashi was in 1940. Some of those
are available on video from Toho's Kinema Kurabu.

The Samurai Trilogy, as it is called, is from 1954-56.

You should keep in mind that Inagaki was not the only director who
adapted Yoshikawa's Musashi to film. Another very famous version is
Uchida Tomu's from 1961-65 starring Nakamura Kinnosuke. Those are
available on video from Toei:

Kato Tai also took on the Yoshikawa Musashi in 1973. There are also
several versions from 1936-37, but most I assume are no longer extant.
