Dear KineJapaners,
I've become quite interested in the popular culture and multitudinous
subcultures that developed around the 1960's in Japan-- i.e. Showa 30's and
40's (corresponding to the economic "Period of High Growth"). I understand
this period is sometimes referred to as the "Showa genroku," comparing it to
the cultural efflorescence of the Genroku period (ear ly Edo: 1688-1704).
Does anyone out there know anything more about the origin and usage of the
phrase "Showa genroku"?
Thanks,
William
